Tax-deductibility FAQ
NBS Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit — Federal Tax ID (EIN) 45-3588927.
- Is my donation to NBS Animal Rescue tax-deductible?
- Yes. NBS Animal Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (Federal Tax ID #45-3588927). Donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by U.S. law. Please consult your tax advisor for advice specific to your situation.
- What is your EIN / Tax ID number?
- Our Federal Employer Identification Number (EIN) is 45-3588927. You can use this number when claiming your donation on your taxes or when setting up a workplace giving or donor-advised fund (DAF) gift.
- Will I get a receipt for my donation?
- Yes. PayPal automatically emails a receipt for every online gift. For donations of $250 or more, or for in-kind/physical donations, email nbsanimalrescue@gmail.com and we'll send an acknowledgment letter that meets IRS substantiation requirements.
- Are in-kind donations (supplies, food, medications) tax-deductible?
- Yes — donated goods are generally deductible at their fair market value. The IRS requires the donor (not the charity) to determine the value. We can provide a written acknowledgment of what was received; we cannot assign a dollar value. Unopened, unexpired medications are accepted on a case-by-case basis — please email us before dropping them off.
- Can I deduct the value of fostering or volunteering?
- You can't deduct the value of your time, but unreimbursed out-of-pocket expenses directly tied to fostering or volunteering for NBS (food, supplies, mileage at the IRS charitable rate) are generally deductible. Keep your receipts and a mileage log.
- Do you accept stock, DAF grants, or workplace matching?
- Yes to all three. Many employers match nonprofit gifts — ask your HR team and use EIN 45-3588927. For donor-advised fund grants or stock transfers, email nbsanimalrescue@gmail.com and we'll send the brokerage details.
